After his win last week at the PGA, Tiger speculated that he might have done better in the heat due to his fitness level. Big John doesn't think so.
This week at the Scandinavian Masters, John Daly said, "I think I did better than most players last week who do work out. I don't think it matters if you work out or if you don't work out. I'm used to the heat. Fat boys like me can get through the heat. I tried, but every time I worked out I threw up, and I thought to myself, you can get drunk and throw up, so it's just not for me. I'm flexible enough. There are probably some things I could do to keep my flexibility up, but I'd rather smoke, drink Diet Cokes and eat. I get enough exercise walking five or six miles a day."
I have news for you John, walking is not exercise, it's an activity.
He did do better (T32) last week than most players who work out. This time.
That's not the point. The point is to be doing everything you can in your control to be the best you can be. He could be doing so much better than those guys due to his incredible talent. So far he ranks:
- 166 on the Fed Ex Point List
- 171 on the Money List
- 380 on the World Golf Ranking
Don't get me wrong, I love to watch Daly because he takes a lot of chances and his game is fun to watch.
Speaking about Tiger, Daly said, "I wish I had his game. I think the thing that separates Tiger from everybody is that he makes putts more than we do. Right now he's like a one-man field."
JD must've been drinking before this interview. If he thinks the only thing that separates Tiger is that he makes more putts than everyone else, he was either drunk or just he's just plain crazy.
Tiger has a superior fitness level, a superior mental game, and a superior work ethic.
That's what separates him.

Not only is Tiger in better shape physically than the other players, his mental game is on top, too. He brings a seriousness to the game that makes golf look like the professional sport it is.

Anthony,
You brought up a great point in the golf world. Many golfers who are out of shape think that they are in good enough shape to play golf when they are really so far from the truth. The more fit the body is, the better game you'll play and the easier it will be to play at that level.
I must admit I am curious to know what in the world Daly does for his workout to always cause himself to throw up afterwards. His game would improve significantly if he just paid a little more attention to his body and his health. If working out causes him to throw up he needs to find a more appropriate workout routine.
